Introduction

Avascular necrosis (AVN), also called osteonecrosis or bone infarction, is the death of bone tissue due to interruption of the blood supply at the femoral head. Avascular necrosis may develop into joint pain, seriously hindering the patients’ ability to move. The Avascular necrosis may also lead to fracture, or joint dislocations, and hence mandating joint Arthroplasties with prosthetic hip for treatment.

The EMT AVN system is designed to be used to successfully deal with stage I and II Avascular Necrosis. The EMT core decompression kit is a single-use system used to efficiently facilitate the core decompression of the patient.

Features

  • The expandable decompression blade can be expanded and retracted at ease to a required cutting length, to selectively remove the diseased bone from the patient’s body.
  • The disposable blade is a single-use device that can be easily removed and replaced with a new one,
  • Using the blade to cut through the cancellous bone and collect the bone as the core filler after finishing the core decompression for creating bone substitutes.
  • The published data on care decompression indicates that core decompression enhances the quality of life of patients.
